Job Description/Requirements

Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania 

Reporting to: Managing Director


Key Responsibilities:

1. Management of the Technical Department staff.

2. Play the role of Technical Lead in projects

3. Advise technical resources required for projects. Manage the resources once allocated.

4. Monitor and report on technical progress in projects

5. Train and mentor the technical team.

6. Manage, research and develop solutions from testing to implementation and eventual rollouts within the set time frames.

7. Provide direction and technical expertise in design, development and integration of systems.

8. Oversee and provide guidance in all in-house and outsourced software development.

9. Development of SOPs and SLAs to align department with company objectives and have clear standards and methodology of task execution.

10. Development of IT Policy, User and other technical manuals. 

11. Overseeing the maintenance of office equipment, hardware/software, network, FMS and ECTS systems.

12. Oversee/Manage Inventory of IT Equipment and Tools

13. Create a Technical Support strategy to ensure a seamless provision of effective service to external and internal customers.

14. Develop new products and solutions. Enhance functionality of existing solutions.

15. Provide timely and comprehensive support to other organisation functions.

16. Evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the Company’s internal systems; increasing efficiency and reducing administrative overhead.

17. Manage and monitor critical system Servers.

18. Interact with and follow up Service providers and suppliers to ensure all technical challenges are resolved in a timely manner.

19. System reconciliation with FMS Platform Service Providers on billing i.e. units charged vs actual units existing in the system.

20. Attract, retain and motivate Technical and IT staff to improve the company’s performance 

21. Provide regular reports on key Technical aspects of the business, in accordance with set reporting requirements 

22. Provide relevant technical information to Field Team and Technicians to enable proper execution of installations and check-ups.

23. Identify resource and equipment requirements for effective service delivery.

24. Ensure ECTS Units:

o Are repaired, charged and released in a timely manner 

o PTUMS system is functioning optimally and any arising issues are dealt with swiftly

o Are handled efficiently with an aim of having each device achieve 3 trips per month

o Status Reports are provided to Management regularly or as required

o Urgent matters arising are communicated immediately to the management

o TRA performance requirements are adhered to at all times 

25. Advise the business on new technical trends, recommending those that are beneficial to the company’s operations and performance.

26. Advise and support other departments on technical matters. 

27. Promote and advocate for the company vision within the technical department.

28. Ensure company procedures are followed during ECTS/FMS device repairs and to the required standard up to component level.

29. Ensure records of Tracking devices under repair are maintained and are up to date with regard to the following:

a) Work orders

b) Job cards 

30. Attend relevant meetings and where required chair the meetings. 

31. Periodically evaluate the technical staff performance in collaboration with the Human Resources Manager and make recommendations on areas of improvement.

32. Any other related task assigned by your superior.


EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

• A Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in related fields

• At least 5 years in a similar industry handling similar tasks


DESIRABLE SKILLS

a) Problem solving and troubleshooting.

b) Leadership and Management 

c) Being a Team player with good interpersonal skills

d) Excellent communication and collaboration.

e) Strategic and Analytical Thinking.

f) Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

g) Familiarity of Vehicle Tracking /Fleet Management Systems and their platforms is an advantage.

h) Knowledge of GPS Device installations, trouble shooting and common problems is an advantage.

i) Knowledge of Automobile electrical systems and wiring is an advantage.

j) Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and meet tight deadlines
