General Purpose
Our client, a leading manufacturer and distributor of premium food products, including luxury ice cream and chocolates, is seeking a highly motivated, results-driven, and customer-focused Trade Development Representative to join their sales team in Arusha, Tanzania. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sales growth, strengthening customer relationships, executing merchandising standards, and ensuring excellent product availability across the assigned territory.
Location: Arusha, Tanzania | Salary: TZS 590,000
Duties & Responsibilities
Sales & Order Generation
- Generate orders in line with assigned route plans and sales targets.
- Maintain healthy stock levels throughout the order cycle.
- Ensure correct product assortment across all assigned outlets.
- Monitor product movement and manage product returns.
- Follow up on pending customer orders to ensure timely delivery.
- Service all assigned outlets according to approved route schedules.
Payment & Receivables Management
- Achieve 100% collection of outstanding receivables within assigned accounts.
- Ensure compliance with approved payment procedures.
- Submit cheques and payment documentation to the relevant departments.
- Collect Goods Received Notes (GRNs) for timely processing of credit notes.
- Facilitate issuance of credit notes by ensuring complete documentation.
- Follow up on remittance advice to enable accurate payment allocation.
Merchandising & Brand Visibility
- Maintain FEFO (First Expiry First Out) standards across all product categories.
- Ensure product visibility at counters, tills, shelves, and promotional displays.
- Maintain required on-shelf availability for all priority SKUs.
- Adhere to shelf capacity and merchandising standards by channel.
- Ensure accurate pricing and updated shelf labels.
- Maintain product cleanliness, replenish shelves, rotate stock, and clean display equipment.
Account Development
- Maintain freezer (-18°C) and chiller (5°C) operating standards.
- Ensure refrigeration equipment is correctly positioned and well maintained. • Identify opportunities for additional product displays and promotions.
- Verify branding, tagging, and functionality of company assets at customer outlets.
Reporting & Market Intelligence
- Submit accurate daily, weekly, and periodic sales reports. • Report outlet payment issues, closures, and operational challenges.
- Monitor sales performance by outlet and product category.
- Track competitor products, pricing, promotions, and market activities.

Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in sales, merchandising, or account management.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills. • Good planning, reporting, and organizational abilities.
- Customer-focused with strong commercial awareness.
- Ability to work independently and consistently achieve sales targets.
