Job Summary
Bring Girl Rising’s work in East Africa to life by capturing powerful stories, producing multimedia content, and supporting global communications and fundraising efforts. This role is ideal for a strong writer and visual storyteller who can work independently in the field and craft compelling narratives for digital, donor, and program audiences.

Job Description/Requirements
Story Collection & Content Creation
Gather stories, interviews, photos, and short videos from Girl Rising programs, partners, and youth leaders in Kenya
Write content focused on global programs and campaigns for blogs, social media, newsletters, donor updates, and internal reports
Coordinate with the global comms team to ensure stories are aligned with messaging and ethical storytelling standards
DSocial Media Support
Provide Kenya-based content for Girl Rising’s global digital channels
Assist with social media drafts, caption writing, content calendar and scheduling of posts as needed for global communications
Create and edit videos and reels on global content for social media platforms
Lead strategies to optimize posts for engagement and reach
Website & Digital Storytelling
Steward Girl Rising’s website as a key storytelling space
Regularly update impact stories, program pages, multimedia, and partner profiles
Ensure website content reflects the voices of girls, community partners, and educators
Collaborate with the global team to maintain tone, accuracy, ethics, and user experience
Cross-Team Collaboration
Work closely with Kenya program staff to surface impact stories
Collaborate with India and global comms team members to ensure message consistency
Coordinate photographers, videographers, or contractors if needed
Qualifications:
- 2–4+ years of experience in communications, media, journalism, or nonprofit storytelling
- Strong writer in English with ability to translate field experience into compelling narrative
- Experience with social media, basic photography/video capture, and light editing
- Comfortable visiting schools, communities, and program sites to gather stories
- Collaborative, dependable, and excited to amplify youth voices and gender equity work
- Based in Kenya, with ability to travel within the country occasionally
