Company Overview: ECO SPREW (K) LTD is a food manufacturing limited company registered in March 2018 under the Companies Act 2015 of the laws of Kenya. The company’s business model encompasses a strong social impact approach of empowering small holder farming communities socio-economically through contracting and sourcing of raw materials from them. ECO SPREW runs a state of the art jam processing facility, based in Kajiado County in Kenya that processes and supplies healthy jam across the EAC market, under the brand name “Gusto”. In running the jam processing facility, ECO SPREW sources hand-picked fresh fruits and vegetables that are of the highest quality from own farms and 1,021 contracted small scale organic farmers drawn from Kisii, Kericho, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Nakuru, Nyahururu, Kiambu and Kajiado counties in Kenya. We maintain the highest standards of food safety and hygiene and are fully compliant with all regulations. We have invested in a state of the art processing plant that’s fully fitted with cold chain equipment. This enables us to maintain the quality and nutritional attributes of our product while preventing spoilage.
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Intern - Food Technology. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting our food technology team in the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality assurance and food safety programs.
Responsibilities:
● Assist in the development of new products, including conducting research, ingredient sourcing, and recipe formulation.
● Conduct sensory evaluations and taste tests of new products and provide feedback.
● Participate in the testing and analysis of raw materials, finished products, and packaging materials.
● Assist in the implementation and maintenance of quality assurance and food safety programs.
● Monitor and document production processes, ensuring compliance with established standards and protocols.
● Work closely with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to product quality, safety, or production.
● Keep up-to-date with industry developments and regulatory requirements in the food technology field.
● Generating new product ideas and recipes
● Modifying and improving existing recipes
● Designing processes and machinery for the production of recipes on a large scale
● Liaising with marketing staff
● Ensuring that strict hygiene food safety standards are met
● Identifying and choosing products from suppliers
● Monitoring the use of additives
● Testing and examining samples
● Writing reports.
Requirements:
● Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or related field.
● Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
● Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently.
● Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
● Knowledge of food safety regulations and standards.
