Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Microfinance Sales Officer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying potential clients, promoting our loan products and savings programs, and building lasting relationships within the community. You will play a critical part in expanding our client base while ensuring adherence to responsible lending practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Acquisition: Identify, approach, and recruit new clients (individuals, small businesses, and groups) within the assigned territory to meet monthly loan disbursement and portfolio growth targets.
- Product Promotion: Educate potential clients on the features, benefits, and terms of various microfinance products, including microloans, SME loans, group lending, and savings accounts.
- Loan Processing & Assessment: Assist clients with the application process; conduct initial credit assessments, gather necessary documentation, and perform basic due diligence (home/business visits) to evaluate creditworthiness.
- Portfolio Management: Monitor the performance of assigned client accounts; ensure timely repayments, follow up on overdue accounts, and proactively manage client relationships to prevent delinquency.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional ongoing support to clients, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and identifying opportunities for cross-selling or loan top-ups.
- Compliance: Adhere strictly to the institution's credit policies, interest rate caps, and regulatory requirements to ensure ethical and compliant lending practices.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate records of client interactions, sales activities, and loan performance; submit daily/weekly reports to the Branch Manager.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
- Experience: 1–3 years of experience in sales, preferably within microfinance, banking, or financial services. Experience in group lending methodology is a plus.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain financial concepts in simple, relatable terms.
- Local Knowledge: Strong understanding of the local community and economy; willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory (often by motorbike or public transport).
- Integrity: High level of honesty and ethical standards; commitment to responsible lending and client protection.
- Self-Motivation: Ability to work independently, meet strict targets, and manage time effectively with minimal supervision.
