About the Role
Our client, a reputable mid sized insurance brokerage, is seeking an experienced and enterprising Business Development Manager – Medical Insurance to lead the growth and expansion of its health insurance portfolio. This role focuses on acquiring new corporate, SME, and retail clients, nurturing long term relationships, and ensuring full compliance with the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales
• Develop and implement a strategic sales plan to drive growth in the medical insurance portfolio across corporate, SME, and retail markets.
• Identify and engage potential clients, brokers, and distribution partners.
• Deliver compelling product presentations and proposals tailored to client needs.
• Achieve and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
Client Management
• Maintain strong relationships with existing clients to optimize retention and satisfaction.
• Lead client review meetings and manage renewal discussions.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries and claim support.
Regulatory & Operational Compliance
• Ensure sales activities and supporting documentation align with IRA regulations and internal policies.
• Maintain accurate transaction records and prepare required reports for the IRA.
• Stay updated on changes in regulations and collaborate closely with the compliance team.
Market Intelligence
• Monitor market trends, assess competitor offerings, and evaluate emerging needs within the medical insurance space.
• Recommend enhancements and adjustments to existing products and services to maintain a competitive edge.
Qualifications & Experience
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Healthcare Management, Business, or a related field.
• Certification: Certificate of Proficiency (COP) in Medical Insurance. AIIK or ACII is an added advantage.
• Experience: At least 5 years of proven experience in health or medical insurance sales, with a strong track record in client acquisition and retention.
• Regulatory Compliance: Must meet IRA’s “fit and proper” requirements and be well versed in insurance sales regulations.
