Job Summary

The Coffee Shop Manager is responsible for the overall operations of the café, including intern-staff management, customer satisfaction, product quality, and financial performance. This role requires a hands-on leader who is equally comfortable making lattes behind the bar as they are managing schedules, and inventories. The ideal candidate is passionate about coffee, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys connecting with people. The Manager also must share the values of a social enterprise that seeks to improve the output of those being trained and support the communities being served.

Zebra Coffee is a single origin coffee company that works with farmers in the Kiambu county in Kenya to provide high quality, specialty coffee. The Zebra Coffee Shop is located near the gate of the Maasai Mara, where travelers from all over the world can embark into adventure and into the wilderness. Zebra Coffeeshop is intentionally designed to feel like a haven existing a step away from the Maasai Mara, yet celebrates its interconnection with the land, wildlife, and it’s people. Zebra Coffee is part of the Dragon Trails impact network that supports entrepreneurs and communities to create new pathways to positively impact their environment and society. Zebra Coffee Shop is not just a boutique, specialty coffee experience, it is also a training site for students at the Nashulai Conservancy College to engage in hospitality training.


Key Responsibilities
Food Service
• Oversee daily operations, ensuring smooth service and consistent quality
• Prepare and serve espresso-based drinks, brewed coffee, teas, and other menu items to highest standards of quality
• Ensure cleanliness and organization of the café, including counters, equipment, seating area, and restrooms
• Restock supplies (milk, coffee beans, syrups, cups, etc.) as needed
• Handle cash and card transactions accurately and responsibly

Team Leadership & Development
• Train and supervise baristas and service staff and interns from the Nashulai Conservancy College
• Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment
• Provide coaching, feedback, and ongoing training to maintain service and quality standards
• Ensure all staff follow food safety, health, and hygiene regulations

Business Operations & Customer Service
• Resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and presentation in the café
• Track sales performance, set targets, and drive revenue growth
• Oversee ordering, stock control, and vendor relationship
• Uphold brand values and deliver a consistent guest experience

Qualifications & Skills
• Proven experience in hospitality or retail management (coffee shop or café experience preferred)
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills (experience in social enterprise or education preferred)
• Passion for coffee, customer service, and creating community.
• Ability to manage financials, scheduling, and inventory.
• Must relocate to Sekonani
