Job Summary
To oversee and manage all agricultural, operational, and administrative activities within the estate to ensure optimal productivity, sustainability, and compliance with company policies and statutory regulations. The role is responsible for effective planning, resource utilization, staff management, and maintenance of high standards in crop husbandry, environmental conservation, and employee welfare, while fostering a culture of safety, discipline, and continuous improvement across the estate.

Job Description/Requirements
- Plan, allocate, and supervise all estate operations.
- Ensure proper crop husbandry practices and adherence to company standards.
- Allocate tasks and set performance targets for general workers within the estates and all crops.
- Maintain current field records, including rainfall data, fertilizer applications, soil analyses, pest and disease monitoring, and motor vehicle usage.
- Manage and monitor, maintain staff welfare within the labour housing areas.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records on picking, processing, and dispatch of produce to the mills.
- Foster and maintain good relationships with neighboring communities.
- Promote soil conservation and effective management of natural resources.
- Safeguard and enhance conservation areas and the general estate environment.
- Update all records related to labour, expenses, and assets on a daily basis, as required.
- Ensure compliance with certification standards such as UTZ Certified, Rainforest Alliance, and ISO (Food Safety).
- Oversee maintenance and repair of farm property, equipment, and machinery.
- Enforce health and safety regulations in line with the Occupational Safety and Health Act, 2007.
- Supervise workshop operations within the estate.
- Participate in the recruitment of general workers and make recommendations for promotions.
- Uphold discipline in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and relevant labour legislation.
- Prepare and monitor annual and semi-annual budgets, including capital and revenue expenditure.
- Develop, train, motivate, and evaluate general workers to achieve optimal performance levels.
- Identify, implement, and benchmark best practices in field operations.
- Ensure effective communication across all levels within the estate.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years’ experience in estate or farm management, preferably within a large- scale agricultural enterprise.
- Proven experience in crop husbandry, soil and water conservation, and sustainable agricultural practices.
- Sound understanding of certification standards such as UTZ, Rainforest Alliance, and ISO (Food Safety).
- Good experience in budgeting, resource planning, and cost control.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
