Sales Representatives - Car Rental

Sales RepresentativesJob Summary: The Sales Representative will be responsible for generating new business, managing client relationships, and driving revenue growth for the car rental business.
The ideal candidate must have strong experience in transport, logistics, or automotive sales, a solid understanding of vehicle operations, and must be a competent driver. The role involves active field sales, customer engagement, negotiating contracts, ensuring smooth rental processes, and providing excellent after-sales support.
Key Accountabilities
Sales & Business Development

• 
  
• Identify, pursue, and convert new business opportunities through fieldwork, networking, referrals, digital inquiries, and corporate outreach.
  
• Conduct market research to identify potential customers, competitors, and market trends.
  
• Actively engage walk-in clients at the showroom/office and follow up on online leads.
  
• Cold call and visit potential corporate and individual clients to pitch rental services.
  

Customer Relationship Management

• 
  
• Greet clients professionally, understand their rental needs, and recommend suitable vehicles and packages.
  
• Build strong, trust-based relationships to encourage long-term repeat business.
  
• Provide excellent customer service throughout the rental lifecycle—before, during, and after vehicle hire.
  

Product Knowledge & Vehicle Demonstration

• 
  
• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all rental fleet vehicles, including specifications, capacity, fuel efficiency, safety features, and pricing.
  
• Brief clients on vehicle condition, insurance coverage, rental terms, and safety guidelines.
  
• Conduct or facilitate vehicle demonstrations when required.
  

Negotiation & Closing Sales

• 
  
• Present rental options clearly, highlight benefits, and negotiate rental rates and terms.
  
• Address client objections and close deals in line with company pricing and policies.
  
• Prepare rental quotes, proposals, and agreements for client approval.
  

Finance Coordination & Documentation

• 
  
• Guide clients on available payment methods and credit terms (where applicable).
  
• Coordinate with Finance/Accounts to process payments, deposits, invoices, and credit applications.
  
• Ensure all rental contracts, forms, and customer documents are accurately completed and filed.
  

Target Achievement & Reporting

• 
  
• Achieve set monthly sales quotas and revenue targets.
  
• Maintain and update daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports.
  
• Provide accurate sales forecasts and market insights to management.
  

After-Sales Support

• 
  
• Conduct follow-ups to ensure client satisfaction and handle complaints or inquiries.
  
• Promote loyalty programs, additional services, and upgrades.
  
• Encourage referrals and maintain long-term customer engagement.
  

CRM & Record Management

• 
  
• Use CRM systems to log sales activities, client interactions, pipeline opportunities, and follow-ups.
  
• Ensure accurate and up-to-date customer information, contract records, and activity reports.
  
• Monitor vehicle availability and coordinate with the operations team for bookings.
  

Qualifications

• 
  
• Degree/Diploma in Sales & Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  
• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in the automotive, logistics, transport, or car rental industry (mandatory).
  
• Proven track record of achieving sales targets.
  
• Must be a valid driver’s license holder with practical driving experience.
  
• Strong understanding of vehicle types, maintenance basics, and rental operations.
  
• Proficiency in MS Office applications and CRM tools.
  

Working Conditions

• 
  
• Base retainer: KES 25,000
  
• Commission structure available based on performance.
  
• Fieldwork required (client visits, corporate pitches, vehicle deliveries).
  
• Occasional weekend or after-hours availability depending on customer needs.
