Job Summary
Our client, a leading retail company specializing in fresh flowers, is seeking a Cold Room Supervisor to oversee and coordinate all day-to-day operations of the floral cold room. The successful candidate will ensure optimal storage conditions, maintain inventory accuracy, supervise staff, and ensure flowers remain fresh and ready for retail.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all cold room operations including receipt, storage, handling, and dispatch of flowers.
- Ensure all flowers are stored under optimal temperature, humidity, and environmental
conditions to maximize freshness and shelf life.
- Monitor cold room systems daily (temperature, humidity, airflow) and report any
deviations or equipment malfunctions immediately.
- Plan and allocate daily workloads to cold room staff to ensure smooth and efficient
operations.
- Ensure proper labeling, rotation, and organization of flower stock, adhering to FIFO
(First In, First Out) principles.
- Inspect incoming flowers for quality and report any damaged or substandard stock to
management.
- Maintain high standards of product presentation, ensuring flowers are stored and
displayed attractively for dispatch.
- Supervise staff attendance, performance, and adherence to company policies and SOPs.
- Conduct regular training and coaching of cold room staff on handling, storage best practices, and safety procedures.
- Perform regular audits of inventory and reconcile stock discrepancies, coordinating with the procurement and inventory teams.
- Maintain proper cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards in the cold room in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper use of equipment, PPE, and emergency protocols.
- Coordinate with logistics and retail teams to prioritize orders and ensure timely dispatch
of flowers to retail outlets or clients.
- Identify and address operational bottlenecks, process inefficiencies, or equipment issues
proactively.
- Support HR in recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management of cold
room staff.
- Prepare, analyze, and share detailed daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports,
including stock levels, wastage, and workflow efficiency.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure cold room supplies (e.g., floral foams,
wrappings, containers) are adequately stocked.
- Implement cost-control measures to minimize wastage of flowers and packaging materials.
- Ensure all records, logs, and documentation are accurately maintained and up to date.
- Foster teamwork, motivation, and accountability among cold room staff, promoting a positive work culture.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, suggesting process enhancements to improve efficiency, reduce losses, and maintain quality standards.
- Support company projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing operational excellence and customer satisfaction
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Floriculture, Horticulture, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in cold room supervision or perishable goods
management, preferably in retail or floriculture.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and coordination skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with ERP or inventory systems is an advantage.
- Ability to multitask, meet tight deadlines, and work under pressure.
- High attention to detail, accountability, and problem-solving mindset.
- Must be flexible, reliable, and able to work in a dynamic team environment.
