Who We Are
We are an established fintech company with 15 years of experience, licensed to operate across six African countries and serving a rapidly growing international customer base. As we scale our operations, we’re looking for an experienced payments executive to join us as Group CEO and drive our next phase of growth.
This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in scaling fintech businesses, navigating complex regulations, and building strong payment infrastructure across Africa. If you’re a strategic leader with deep payments expertise and a passion for innovation, we’d love to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
1. Grow Our Business
● Acquire enterprise merchants – Tap into your network (and our board's connections) to bring in large international “enterprise” merchants.
● Build payment rails – Identify, negotiate with, and integrate new payment partners (banks, processors, card schemes, etc.).
● Navigate compliance & regulation – Secure necessary licenses, ensure adherence to local and international payment and card scheme regulations.
2. Protect Our Business (Don’t Lose Money)
● Safeguard customer funds – Ensure strict segregation of funds and robust treasury management.
● Guarantee timely settlements – Oversee reconciliation processes to prevent settlement delays or losses.
● Guarantee revenue capture – Ensure commissions, fees, and FX margins are correctly applied and collected.
3. Keep Customers Happy
● Smooth merchant onboarding - Coordinate cross functional teams to deliver a world-class onboarding experience for new merchants.
● Achieve high transaction success rates – Collaborate with our technology team and payment processors to achieve industry-leading (>99% uptime) transaction success rates.
● Deliver exceptional support – Ensure customer facing teams give feedback quickly and proactively.
4. Administrative and strategic oversight
● HR & team leadership – Work with the Head of HR to Hire, mentor, and retain top talent.
● Financial discipline – Work with the CFO to Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
● Regulatory & internal compliance – Work with the Head of Compliance to ensure all operations meet regulation standards.
● Process improvement – Find ways for continuous improvement in our regular processes
● Board management - Work with the board on the company’s 3-year strategic plan. Be able to effectively communicate the vision, values, and mission of the organization.
● Build culture - Build a team culture that values both accountability and grace. Appropriately empower managers to make decisions.
● Develop and motivate people - Proactively find ways to further team members’ professional development and growth trajectory. We want to build a world-class team, and we can’t do that unless everyone is in the right role and growing.
Who You Are
● A committed Christian – As a faith-based organisation, we require all leadership to personally embrace and model Christian values in their work and management style. You would align fully with the company’s decision not to engage in unethical business sectors. You would be open to and would aspire to lead the organization using the redemptive framework. You will be capable of leading staff prayer times and group Bible study as reasonably requested.
● A payments industry veteran – You’ve held a senior role in a card scheme, PSP, Bank, FX/CFD, or related business.
● A dealmaker with deep connections – You have relationships with decision-makers at global PSPs, banks, and fintechs looking for payment rails in Africa.
● A proven integrator – You’ve successfully led end-to-end payment partnerships (e.g., a PSP integrating with a bank or card network).
● Regulatory savvy – You grasp card scheme rules, AML/KYC, and African payment regulations.
● Technically savvy – You can engage with developers on API specs, fraud systems, settlement workflows etc
● A proven leader – You’ve managed teams and projects before. You’ve had to hire, hire, and mentor others in a number of different settings.
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Travel: Up to 15%, to other markets (we are licensed in 6 markets), to key conferences/gatherings, and to key customer contacts in EU and other geographies
