Position Overview
We are seeking a highly technical and experienced Grain Handling Specialist to oversee our commercial bulk silo and warehouse operations. This role requires deep expertise in post-harvest grain preservation, advanced mechanical knowledge, and proven ability to manage climate-controlled storage systems to ensure the highest quality of raw milling inputs. 

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-driven, and thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment where precision and compliance are paramount.

Key Responsibilities
  • Silo Climate & Aeration Management: Operate automated aeration systems, actively manage humidity control, and maintain optimal grain storage conditions.
  • Condition Monitoring: Interpret temperature cables, track internal silo microclimates and adjust airflow to prevent condensation, heating, and aflatoxin development.
  • Grain Handling Machinery: Run, troubleshoot, and maintain bucket elevators, chain conveyors, and mechanical pre-cleaners.
  • Quality & Pest Control: Execute fumigation protocols (e.g., phosphine gas), enforce moisture level standards, and conduct continuous quality audits.
  • Warehouse Logistics: Manage finished-product and bagged inventory, enforce FIFO rotation, and optimize safe stacking limits.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce industrial silo safety standards, including confined space entry, lockout/tag out (LOTO), and dust explosion mitigation.
  • System Monitoring: Operate and monitor Bühler Group WinCos or similar SCADA systems to track material flow, equipment status, and bin levels.

Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Business, Food Science, or agronomy, technical training in agriculture or mechanics preferred.
  • Experience in grain handling, warehouse operations, or agricultural logistics.
  • Must have a certificate from Buhler African milling school.
  • Ability to operate and maintain mechanical equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
