JOB LOCATION: NYAMIRA COUNTY
JOB SUMMARY.
The Job Holder will be required to ensure optimal availability, reliability and performance of self-propelled tea harvesters through preventive maintenance, rapid field repairs and supporting efficient harvesting operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES.
1. Perform planned preventive maintenance (PM) on SPHs (engines, hydraulics, cutting, blower and crawling system).
2. Diagnose and fix field breakdowns quickly to minimize harvesting downtime.
3. Maintain and troubleshoot hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and cutting mechanisms.
4. Support harvesting teams on-site and advise operators on proper machine handling and daily checks.
5. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on repeat failures and implement corrective actions.
6. Enforce HSE compliance and ensure machines are safe before deployment.
7. Maintain accurate maintenance records, checklists, service logs and support asset care/PM systems.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCES.
1. Diploma/Certificate in Mechanical, Agricultural or Automotive Engineering.
2. 3–5 years’ experience hands-on experience in maintenance of fleet (agricultural machinery preferred).
3. Strong skills in hydraulics, diesel engines, mechanical drives and moving systems
4. Experience in tea plantation operations is a strong advantage.
5. Fast and accurate fault diagnosis.
6. High responsiveness in field conditions.
7. Strong teamwork with operators and field supervisors.
8. Practical problem-solving mindset.
