Our client, in the financial and insurance sector, is seeking to hire a strategic and results-oriented Human Resource Manager to lead their human capital function. Job Summary
The Human Resource Manager will oversee the entire employee lifecycle, ensuring full compliance with Kenyan Labour Laws while fostering a high-performance culture. You will act as a strategic partner to leadership and a champion for employee welfare and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and implement HR strategies, policies, and procedures; provide leadership in general administration and secretariat services to the HR Advisory.
- Lead workforce planning and end-to-end recruitment (including expatriate hiring) to ensure the organization possesses the requisite competencies to meet its objectives.
- Coordinate appraisals, development planning, and succession strategies to improve individual and organizational output.
- Manage industrial relations, resolve grievances/disciplinary matters, and foster a positive culture through engagement and recognition programs.
- Conduct training needs assessments and organize learning programs to build staff capacity and embrace emerging technological trends.
- Ensure 100% compliance with Kenyan Labour Laws, KRA, NSSF, SHA/SHIF, and OSHA. Lead HR audits and maintain statutory documentation.
- Identify high-potential employees and develop leadership pipelines to ensure continuity for critical roles across all departments
- Oversee the HR Information System (HRIS), leveraging people analytics to provide data-driven insights on turnover, attrition, and workforce productivity to the Board.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, and the wider financial community.
- Oversee accurate payroll processing, statutory deductions, and the administration of pension schemes, medical insurance, and wellness programs.
- Manage the HR budget and provide monthly/annual reports on headcount, turnover, and disciplinary metrics.
- Undertake job analysis, review job descriptions, monitor service contracts, and manage staff leave rosters to ensure work-life balance.
- Provide coaching to line managers and oversee the orientation of new staff, interns, and attachés.
- Participate in internal and external audits by providing accurate documentation and clarifying policy compliance.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Master’s degree in HR Management, Business Administration, or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources.
- Higher Diploma in HRM or CHRP-K; Must be a member of IHRM with a current practicing certificate.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant HR experience, in a managerial role, specifically within the Insurance Services sector.
- Must meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
- Expert knowledge of Kenyan Labour Laws and HRIS systems.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.
- Proven track record in coaching and mentoring diverse teams.
