We distribute low-cost, AI-powered diagnostic devices directly to primary care doctors in peri-urban and rural clinics, where the availability of common diagnostics is very poor. Our proprietary software integrates all the devices that we distribute and enables the doctor to provide effective patient management. We use technology to bring light to a dark world of healthcare in a similar way technology has leapfrogged landlines, banking and electricity grids. The roleThe Accounting Manager will work under the Head of Finance. This will be a permanent role that will involve accounting, reporting as well as ensuring adherence to internal controls and statutory compliance. The ideal candidate should be well versed in financial principles and able to work comfortably with numbers and great attention to detail.`Responsibilities: Manage the day to day operations of the accounting department including overseeing, coaching and training of a high performance accounting teamBuild and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the month close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reportingLead on tax optimization, tax impact of corporate strategies and manage tax auditsPerform comprehensive reviews of stand-alone and consolidated Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cashflow in compliance with US GAAP & IFRSCreate, update, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financials for management and board discussion and ensure financial statements and reconciliations are prepared in a timely mannerReview payroll ensure statutory compliance with external financial reporting and taxesOversee annual statutory audit process – Support Head of Finance in preparation for and attending audit meetings as required (e.g. Entry, Exit, Status etc.)Oversee supplier, cash and bank reconciliationsEstablish consistent and effective accounting policies, structures, processes, systems and strong internal controls to safeguard the company assets, revenue and other resourcesWork with external advisers/consultants to ensure full compliance with all accounting, tax, and other statutory requirementsSupport with any other tasks as assigned by the management/leadership team Requirements University degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred)High/Unquestionable integrity and Exceptional work ethic4+ years experience in the accounting and finance sectorAudit experience – Big 4 preferredHigh level/general understanding of tax (corporate, personal, VAT, and withholding tax) reporting requirements in KenyaKnowledge & experience working with IFRS /U.S. GAAP reportingKnowledge of financial controls and how to implement themStrong leadership and good team management skillsExperience working with reporting software, Xero, Quick books, Pastel, Sage, OracleHighly analytical with high proficiency in Ms. ExcelPossess exceptional written and verbal communication skills.Self-motivated, creative, and a self-initiator, highly organized and results-focusedConscientious about the timeliness of assignments and quality of work product.Able to handle multiple tasks and maintain control and order over the same.Comfortable with start-up environment; ambiguity, aggressive goals and targets, open company culture, flat company structure, and strong team spirit.
