- Prepare and bake a variety of bakery products including breads, rolls, cakes, pastries, muffins, cookies, doughnuts, and specialty items.
- Follow approved recipes, measurements, and production procedures to ensure consistency and quality.
- Mix, knead, shape, proof, and bake products according to established standards.
- Decorate and finish cakes, pastries, and other baked goods as required.
- Monitor baking times, temperatures, and product quality throughout the production process.
- Ensure daily production targets are achieved in line with customer demand and sales forecasts.
- Inspect ingredients and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Maintain consistency in taste, texture, appearance, and portion sizes.
- Ensure products are attractively displayed and presented for sale.
- Identify and report any quality issues affecting production or customer satisfaction.
- Monitor stock levels of baking ingredients, packaging materials, and supplies.
- Assist in stock requisition and inventory management processes.
- Ensure proper storage and rotation of ingredients using FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles.
- Minimize waste through effective production planning and ingredient management.
- Conduct routine checks on ingredient freshness and expiry dates.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary bakery work environment.
- Adhere to food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and company procedures at all times.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and labeling of ingredients and finished products.
- Clean and sanitize baking equipment, workstations, utensils, and storage areas regularly.
- Follow occupational health and safety guidelines and use protective equipment where required.
- Safely operate bakery equipment including ovens, mixers, proofers, slicers, and other production tools.
- Conduct routine equipment checks and report faults or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Ensure equipment is cleaned and maintained according to operational standards.
- Work closely with bakery, deli, and supermarket staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Support colleagues during peak production periods and promotional activities.
- Participate in stock counts and inventory audits as required.
- Attend training sessions and implement new baking techniques and procedures.
- Certificate or Diploma in Bakery, Pastry Arts, Food Production, Catering, Hospitality, or a related field is an added advantage.
- Food Safety or Food Handling Certification is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Baker, Pastry Chef, or Bakery Assistant in a commercial bakery, hotel, restaurant, catering company, or supermarket.
- Demonstrated experience producing a variety of breads, cakes, pastries, and other baked goods.
- Experience in supermarket bakery operations is an added advantage.
