DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coffee
& Beverage Preparation
- Prepare
a wide range of coffee beverages including espresso, cappuccino,
latte, americano, and specialty drinks to established recipes and
standards
- Calibrate
grinders and espresso machines to ensure optimal extraction and
flavor consistency
- Texture
and steam milk correctly for different beverages, ensuring proper
temperature and microfoam quality
- Maintain
consistency in taste, presentation, and portioning across all drinks
served
- Experiment within guidelines to enhance beverage quality and presentation where appropriate
Customer
Service & Experience
- Greet
customers warmly and create a friendly, welcoming atmosphere
- Take
customer orders accurately and provide knowledgeable recommendations
based on preferences
- Educate
customers on coffee origins, brewing methods, and menu offerings
when appropriate
- Handle
customer feedback and complaints professionally, ensuring prompt
resolution
- Build rapport with regular customers to enhance loyalty and repeat business
Equipment
Handling & Maintenance
- Operate
espresso machines, grinders, blenders, and other café equipment
safely and efficiently
- Perform
routine cleaning and maintenance of machines to ensure optimal
performance
- Identify and report equipment malfunctions promptly
Hygiene,
Safety & Cleanliness
- Maintain
a clean, organized, and hygienic workstation at all times
- Adhere
strictly to food safety, health, and sanitation standards
- Ensure all utensils, equipment, and surfaces are properly cleaned and sanitized
Stock
& Inventory Control
- Monitor
stock levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies
- Report
shortages and assist in stock-taking and inventory management
- Minimize wastage through proper handling and storage of ingredients
Operational
Support
- Assist
with opening and closing procedures, including setup and breakdown
of the coffee station
- Work
collaboratively with other staff to ensure smooth service flow
- Support
other areas of service during peak hours when required
- Handle billing and POS transactions accurately where necessary
KEY
REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Certificate
or Diploma in Food & Beverage or Barista Training
- Minimum
of 2 years’ experience as a barista in a café or restaurant
- Strong
technical skills in espresso preparation and machine handling
- Good
understanding of coffee beans, roast profiles, and brewing
techniques
- Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills
- Well-groomed,
professional, and detail-oriented
- Ability to multitask and perform under pressure
