ABOUT THE COMPANY
Tropical Heat was established in 1973 as a small ethnic snack cottage industry. Today, we are one of the leading manufacturers of spices and snacks in the East African region and our brand Tropical Heat is a household name in Kenya.
With our very strong and expert technical team, we manufacture a vast range of spices and snacks. The spices include pure spices, herbs, seasonings, masalas and salts. Snack items comprise of potato crisps, ethnic snacks, Kenyan chevda, peanuts, rice cakes and extruded snacks.
Our manufacturing processes are fully automated in a brand new hygienic factory, which is also HACCP and ISO22000 certified.
A strong export base has been built up with exports going to Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, DRC, Burundi, UK and the USA.
JOB SUMMARY
Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree or Diploma in mechanical, production/process or manufacturing engineering.2-3 years of experience working as a Technical OperatorFMCG experience is preferred.Competence in operating and troubleshooting machinery, understanding technical specifications, and performing routine maintenance.Strong understanding of machine components, mechanical systems, and the ability to identify and address mechanical issues.Precision in machine setup, monitoring, and quality control to ensure consistent and accurate productionAbility to work collaboratively with other operators, technicians, and production staff to achieve overall manufacturing objectives.Excellent verbal and written communication skillsKey ResponsibilitiesOperate and control machinery involved in spice processing, ensuring that equipment runs smoothly and efficiently.Set up machines, perform adjustments, and calibrate equipment according to product specifications and quality standards.Monitor the entire production process, ensuring that machinery operates within specified parameters and adjusting as necessary.Conduct regular quality checks on spices during production to ensure adherence to quality standards and address any deviations from quality specifications.Train new and existing machine operators on efficient ways to operate machines with minimal downtimes and waste generation.Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with machinery promptly to minimize downtime.Perform routine maintenance tasks on machines to ensure their ongoing reliability.Maintain accurate records of machine operations, production output, and any quality control checks performed and deliver reports to the supervisor on the same.Work closely with other team members, including production supervisors, quality control personnel, and maintenance staff, to ensure seamless coordination in the production process.Help in creation/update and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guidelines for manufacturing to ensure consistency and compliance with industry regulations.
