- Cook a wide variety of African dishes, including traditional meals and contemporary specialties.
- Ensure all food is cooked to the correct temperature, texture, and presentation standards.
- Adapt recipes and cooking techniques to meet specific dietary requirements when necessary.
- Maintain an organized and hygienic work station throughout service hours.
- Monitor inventory of ingredients and communicate shortages to the kitchen manager.
- Assist in receiving and checking deliveries to ensure freshness and quality.
- Ensure proper storage of ingredients according to food safety standards.
- Ensure every dish leaving the kitchen meets the restaurant’s quality standards.
- Taste and adjust dishes to maintain consistent flavor profiles.
- Follow recipes accurately while also applying professional judgment to enhance flavors when needed.
- Follow strict hygiene and sanitation guidelines in line with local health regulations.
- Use kitchen equipment safely and maintain equipment cleanliness.
- Report any hazards or incidents to management promptly.
- Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation during service.
- Assist junior cooks or trainees by sharing knowledge and techniques.
- Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff to ensure timely service.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss menu improvements, kitchen efficiency, and service quality.
- Contribute ideas for new dishes or improvements to existing menu items.
- Keep updated with trends in African cuisine and incorporate them into the kitchen offerings.
- Certificate or Diploma in Food Production, Culinary Arts, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a hot kitchen environment.
- Proven experience in preparing African cuisine.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational, time management, and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to food quality and hygiene standards.
- Preferred age: 25 – 27 years.
