We are seeking a dynamic, visionary, and results-oriented General Manager to lead Tamarso Maji Milele’s strategic growth, ensure operational excellence, and oversee its expansion in Somalia and the wider Horn of Africa. Work location: Mogadishu.

Job Description/Requirements

Roles:

- Business network development and proliferation within Somalia. You report directly to the Board about all aspects of the business.

- You proactively develop relevant networks

- You practice low-cost marketing techniques, including social media.

- You are responsible for Sales and customer relationship development and retention.

- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for Tamarso MajiMilele’s operations, ensuring alignment with the company’s mission and shareholders’ objectives.

- Develop and execute business strategies and annual plans to expand prepaid water metering and solar-powered water systems.

- Manage relationships with key partners, including donors, local governments, and communities.

- Oversee financial performance, risk management, and compliance.

- Lead the team in developing and maintaining an accountable, performance-driven culture.

- Ensure the effective deployment and maintenance of prepaid metering technologies and after-sales service frameworks.

- Represent the company at high-level stakeholder forums and partnerships.

- Drive innovation and digital transformation in water service delivery.

Requirements:

1. You have an educational or practical background in Business Administration and combine this with an interest/feeling for technique (hardware/software) OR you are Water Engineer who has proven to be good in Business Development.

2. Minimum 5–10 years of progressive leadership experience. If this experience is in the water sector, then that is added advantage

3. Proven experience in strategy execution, organizational leadership, and business growth.

4. Strong understanding of financial management, including budgeting, fundraising, and project finance

5. You have a hands-on attitude and you are flexible. You are ready to be practically involved in technical work as well as to take up new roles.

6. You have excellent networking skills

7. You have excellent sales capacities

8. You have an entrepreneurial spirit and look at this job in that perspective (see also the salary offer)

9. You are proactive and ambitious.

10.  Demonstrated capacity to manage diverse teams across multiple regions.

11. You have good communication and interpersonal skills, especially in relation to dealing with customers and colleagues

12. Excellent negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

13. You are a problem solver (in terms of communication issues as well as in terms of technique)

14. You are a hard worker with a zeal for servicing your country/humanity

15. High integrity and commitment to social enterprise values.

16. Experience in writing project proposals is an asset

17. Experience with donor-funded projects and partnerships is an added advantage.

18. Strong computer skills are an asset

19. Strong passion for societal development in line with our philosophy as a social enterprise.

20. You are very honest and a person of high integrity

21. You are flexible to travel to several parts of the country and incidentally also outside Rwanda.

22. You are flexible to work sometimes late or on weekend days.

23. Fluent in English and preferably also in Somali

Salary offer:

- USD 1,000-1,500 per month (depending on experience and track record) + bonuses. Bonuses will depend general performance, but more on sales. We prefer candidates that want to grow with our new company:
