About the Role
A Leading International Academy is seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Languages Department to provide academic leadership and drive excellence within the
Languages Department. The successful candidate will oversee curriculum implementation, mentor language teachers, and ensure outstanding learner outcomes while teaching English and Literature, including Cambridge International A Level classes.
Key Responsibilities
● Provide strategic and academic leadership for the Languages Department.
● Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Cambridge English and Literature curriculum.
● Teach English and Literature across assigned year groups, including Cambridge International A Level.
● Prepare students for IGCSE and A Level examinations, ensuring excellent academic performance.
● Develop and monitor schemes of work, lesson plans, assessments, and departmental targets.
● Mentor, coach, and supervise language teachers to promote high-quality teaching and professional growth.
● Monitor learner performance, analyse assessment data, and implement strategies to improve outcomes.
● Ensure effective curriculum delivery and adherence to Cambridge assessment standards.
● Foster a positive learning environment that promotes critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication.
● Coordinate departmental meetings, academic planning, and quality assurance activities.
● Maintain strong communication with parents and school leadership regarding academic progress.
● Participate in school leadership meetings and contribute to the achievement of the school's strategic goals.
● Uphold the school's policies, values, and safeguarding standards.
Qualifications
● Bachelor's Degree in Education, specializing in English and Literature.
Experience
● Minimum of 10 years' teaching experience in a Cambridge Curriculum School.
● Must have served as a Head of Department (HOD) in a Cambridge school.
● At least 2 years' experience teaching Cambridge International A Level English and Literature.
● Proven experience preparing students for Cambridge A Level examinations with strong academic outcomes.
