Job Purpose
The Operations Manager is responsible for directing the day-to-day operations from warehousing, logistics and stock management in order to guarantee operational excellence; The incumbent will also establish and enforce efficient systems and the implementation of appropriate procedures and processes to effectively manage the operations
Key Duties/ Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient warehouse operations and inventory management
2. Oversee the receipt, storage, and distribution of goods, and ensure that inventory levels are accurate and optimal
3. Ensure compliance with safety and security regulations, and maintain a safe and clean work environment
4. Develop and implement strategies to improve warehouse productivity, reduce costs, and increase efficiency
5. Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure that the organization obtains quality goods and services at competitive prices.
6. Oversee the customs clearance process and ensure compliance with all import regulations including customs clearance, duties, and taxes
7. Develop and implement strategies to optimize transportation and logistics operations,; Manage transportation and logistics personnel, including scheduling and coordinating deliveries and pickups, and tracking shipments
8. Manage inventory levels, stock rotation, and stock accuracy to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize stock obsolescence minimize excess inventory and wastage
9. Monitor and analyze inventory levels, sales trends, and customer demand to forecast inventory needs.; Coordinate with sales and marketing teams to ensure that inventory levels meet customer demand
10. Develop and implement strategies to reduce inventory carrying costs, such as stock obsolescence and wastage
11. Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational performance and identify areas for improvement
12. Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies, and make recommendations to improve the organization's operations.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Management or Operations Management;
• Relevant professional qualification
Knowledge, Experience and Competences
• Minimum Eight (8) years experience in procurement and Operations management in a busy environment. Two(2) of which should be in a managerial role.
• Ability to work with suppliers and build long term competitive supply relationships;
• Ability to analyse data and give presentations to all levels of management;
• Ability to influence, communicate effectively and work with minimum supervision;
• High sense of urgency and ability to outline and communicate effective objectives and action plans;
• Good analytical ability and numerical skills;
• A go-getter, results oriented with good negotiation skills;
• Have a high sense of accuracy and attention for detail; and
• Highest level of personal and professional integrity.
