Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Plan and deliver engaging Physical Education lessons for students in Year 7 to Year 11, aligned with the school's curriculum and academic standards.
2. Develop students' physical fitness, motor skills, teamwork, discipline and understanding of healthy and active lifestyles.
3. Design and implement practical lessons that cater to students with different abilities, interests and levels of physical development.
4. Prepare and administer assessments to monitor students' physical development, skills and understanding of Physical Education concepts.
5. Maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive environment that encourages active participation and promotes sportsmanship.
6. Organise and support extracurricular sporting activities, including school teams, clubs, competitions and inter-school events.
7. Identify and nurture students with sporting talent and support their development through appropriate training and coaching.
8. Maintain accurate records of students' attendance, participation, progress and performance.
9. Collaborate with colleagues in planning interdisciplinary projects, school-wide initiatives and sporting events.
10. Promote the importance of physical fitness, wellbeing, teamwork, leadership and healthy living among students.
The Ideal Candidate Should Possess:
· Registration with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), Kenya.
· A Bachelor's Degree in Education, Physical Education, Sports Science or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
· At least 5 years of teaching experience within an international curriculum.
· Experience teaching Physical Education to students at Year 7 to Year 11 level.
· Strong knowledge of Physical Education curriculum, assessment and instructional practices.
· Strong classroom and student management skills.
· Excellent coaching and sports development skills.
· Ability to organise and coordinate extracurricular sporting activities and competitions.
· Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work effectively within a diverse international school environment.
