ABOUT THE COMPANY

The Central Bank of Kenya was established in 1966 through an Act of Parliament - the Central Bank of Kenya Act of 1966. The establishment of the Bank was a direct result of the desire among the three East African states to have independent monetary and financial policies. This led to the collapse of the East Africa Currency Board (EACB) in mid 1960s.
Following the promulgation of the new constitution on August 27th, 2010, the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) is now established under Article 231 of the Constitution, 2010. Under this Article the Central Bank has the responsibility of formulating monetary policy, promoting price stability, issuing currency and performing any other functions conferred on it by an Act of Parliament.
The Constitution guides that “the Central Bank shall not be under the direction or control of any person or authority in the exercise of its powers or performance of its functions”.

JOB SUMMARY

The role holder will assist in the implementation of the data and analytics and regulatory and supervisory technology strategy for institutions licensed by CBK.Qualifications1. Bachelor Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, Finance or related discipline from a reputable university.2. Professional qualification(s) in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Accounting, Finance, ICT, Project Management Banking or related discipline is an added advantage.Work ExperienceAt least one (1) year post qualification experience in Prudential/Bank Supervision, ICT, Engineering, Project Management, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Financial Analysis, Auditing, Accounting, Commercial Banking Operations and any other relevant area.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assist in executing the Data and Analytics Strategy to continuously monitor and analyse the financial soundness of regulated institutions.2. Contribute to the development of a strategy to leverage technology to enhance bank supervision processes including but not limited to Regulatory Technology (RegTech) and Supervisory Technology (SupTech) as guided by the Manager, Data Analytics, and Regulatory Technology.3. Contribute to arrangements for testing and updates of the Departmental Risk Management Framework including Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans.4. Monitor and follow up on the accuracy, and timeliness of offsite data submissions by licensed institutions, ensuring that the submitted data/returns are correctly processed.5. Prepare periodic requisite reports, presentations, publications, monthly briefs, discussion papers, and board papers as required by other departments, management, the Monetary Policy Committee, and the CBK Board.6. Design and prepare new data templates for data collection for new data requirements, including reporting logic and mappings to support regulatory reporting needs as per CBK prudential guidelines.7. Identify and recommend new process improvement opportunities, including the use of emerging technologies such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, and predictive analytics to automate tasks, identify patterns, and make predictions.8. Provide first-line user support for the department’s systems for both internal and external users in the department and licensed institutions.9. Assist in the execution of the administrative activities in the Department.10. Any other assigned roles and responsibilities.
