JOB PURPOSE
The Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services for company staff, goods, documents, and operational supplies while ensuring proper care and maintenance of company vehicles.
The role supports the movement of inventory, procurement activities, branch replenishments, supplier collections, deliveries, and administrative logistics across all company locations. The Driver is also responsible for safeguarding company assets in transit, ensuring timely deliveries, maintaining accurate transport records, and complying with all traffic, safety, and company regulations.
Fleet Efficiency, Cost Control & Asset Protection
Ensure efficient utilization of company vehicles to support business operations.
Prevent unnecessary vehicle wear and tear through proper vehicle handling.
Support inventory movement while minimizing losses, damages, or pilferage during transportation.
Safeguard company vehicles and assets entrusted during deliveries and collections.
Monitor fuel usage and report abnormal consumption.
Ensure deliveries are completed efficiently to reduce operational costs.
Report accidents, damages, or mechanical issues immediately to management.
Deliver goods, materials, documents, and supplies accurately and within agreed timelines.
Collect inventory, supplier orders, and company documents promptly.
Provide professional and courteous service when interacting with suppliers and other stakeholders.
Obtain and verify delivery notes, goods received notes, and proof of delivery documentation.
Support emergency operational requests and urgent deliveries when required.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when transporting company representatives or confidential documents.
Conduct daily vehicle inspections before and after every trip.
Ensure vehicles are clean, roadworthy, and compliant with legal requirements.
Monitor service schedules and coordinate preventive maintenance.
Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks, mileage records, fuel records, and trip reports.
Ensure valid insurance, inspection certificates, licenses, and other statutory vehicle documentation are always available.
Load, transport, and offload inventory safely while adhering to handling procedures.
Verify quantities of goods collected or delivered against supporting documentation.
Ensure compliance with road safety regulations and company transport policies.
Report vehicle breakdowns, accidents, theft, delays, or operational incidents immediately.
Maintain high standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability.
Build positive working relationships with all departments and external stakeholders.
Participate in company training on defensive driving, safety, customer service, and operational procedures.
Promote safe working practices and compliance with company policies.
Demonstrate flexibility by supporting additional operational duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS &EXPERIENCE
Academic Qualifications
KCSE Certificate or equivalent.
Valid Kenyan Driving Licence (Class B, C, or applicable categories).
Defensive Driving Certificate is an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum 3 years driving experience in a corporate, logistics, retail, or distribution environment.
Good knowledge of Kenyan road networks and traffic regulations.
