Accountant

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and accounting books.
• Process daily financial transactions, including receipts, payments, and journal entries.
• Reconcile bank accounts, cash books, and supplier statements.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Ensure timely invoicing and follow up on outstanding customer payments.
• Prepare statutory deductions including PAYE, VAT, NSSF, NHIF/SHIF, and other applicable taxes.
• Ensure compliance with Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) regulations and other statutory requirements.
• Prepare payroll and maintain employee payroll records.
• Monitor budgets and prepare variance analysis reports.
• Conduct stock reconciliation and support inventory management.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Liaise with auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities during audits and compliance reviews.
• Implement and maintain effective internal financial controls.
• Prepare management reports to support strategic decision-making.
• Perform any other accounting and finance duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
• CPA(K) Finalist or CPA(K) qualification is highly preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years' relevant accounting experience.
• Experience in retail, hospitality, veterinary services, or FMCG will be an added advantage.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Zoho Books, or similar ERP systems.
