Business Development Officer

Responsibilities

Recruit and onboard new customers.

Market and promote the company’s loan products and services.

Receive, assess, and process loan applications. Conduct customer and business verification, credit assessments, and field visits.

Recommend appropriate loan amounts based on the customer’s repayment capacity. Monitor loan utilization, repayments, and overall portfolio performance.

Follow up on due and overdue loans through phone calls and field visits.

Negotiate repayment arrangements and recover outstanding loans.

Maintain accurate customer, loan, repayment, and collection records.

Achieve set targets for customer acquisition, loan disbursement, repayments, and collections. Maintain strong customer relationships while minimizing loan defaults.

Prepare and submit regular reports on loan and collection activities.

REQUIREMENTS

Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Economics, Cooperative Management, or a related field.

Previous experience in microfinance, lending, debt collection, sales, SACCOs, banking, or financial services is an added advantage.

Strong sales, marketing, negotiation, and debt collection skills.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to assess customers and businesses for creditworthiness.

Strong customer service and relationship-management skills.

Ability to work independently and undertake regular field visits.

Target-driven and able to work under pressure.

High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism.

Good record-keeping, reporting, and basic computer skills.
