Debt Collections Officer

We are currently expanding our operations and are therefore looking to have competent and qualified individuals to fill the above position. We are looking for Debt collections officer to assist with the collection of outstanding debts as assigned by the Dept Recovery Manager.

Job Description/Requirements

• Analyze a list of clients in arrears based on the number of missed instalments.
• Contact defaulting customers either by calling or visiting them with an aim of negotiating a settlement of the arrears.
• Refer cases for restructure to Manager, Debt Recover for further guidance.
• Prepare monthly reports: Collections received, all follow ups done, Commitment dates agreed on.     
• Preparing demand letters & ensuring they are properly served
• Identify and escalate deceased or disabled customers to the Manager, Debt Recovery for review or collection termination.
• Liaise with auctioneers for recovery of securities.
• Sourcing market for the repossessed collaterals
• Make decisions to minimize recovery costs
• Attending auctions
• Managing the written off accounts

Required Skills & Qualifications

•  A diploma/Degree in business related course or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a busy debt collection department of a bank, Sacco or Microfinance
• Good negotiation and communication skills
• Full knowledge of retail clients’ products
• Good computer skills especially knowledge of excel and Microsoft Word
• Strong analytical, relationship skills and attention to detail
