About the Role
This is a senior business development role focused on growing our lending portfolio through strategic employer and merchant partnerships, customer acquisition, and market expansion — primarily across Salary Loans and Asset Financing.
Key Responsibilities
Market Development
• Map and penetrate new market segments for Salary Loans and Asset Financing across corporates, SMEs, and SACCOs
• Conduct in-depth market research to identify untapped geographic areas, industries, and customer segments
• Design and execute go-to-market strategies for both new and existing lending products
• Lead market activations, promotional campaigns, and product launch activities
• Track market trends, competitor pricing, and emerging customer needs to stay ahead of the curve
• Translate market insights into actionable product and pricing recommendations for management
Strategic Partnerships
• Identify, negotiate, and close partnership agreements with employers, merchants, and retailers
• Develop and manage employer partnership programs for payroll-linked salary loans
• Build merchant and retailer networks for device and asset financing products
• Maintain long-term relationships with key partners to drive recurring business
Customer Acquisition & Growth
• Drive customer acquisition through employer sensitization sessions, field visits, and referral programs
• Support seamless onboarding of new customers and business partners
• Develop and implement customer retention and loyalty initiatives
• Monitor portfolio growth and report on acquisition performance against targets
Reporting & Portfolio Oversight
• Prepare weekly and monthly business development performance reports
• Track pipeline, partnerships, and portfolio growth metrics
• Present market opportunities and strategic recommendations to senior management
• Coordinate with credit and operations teams to support smooth customer verification and collections
Qualifications & Experience
Education
• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Economics or related field
• Professional sales or banking qualifications are an added advantage
Experience (3–5 Years)
• Banking, SACCO, or Microfinance
• Fintech or Consumer Finance
• Salary Loans / Payroll Lending
• Asset Financing / Device Financing
• Corporate or SME Sales
