Site Accountant
Job summary
As a Site Accountant, you will primarily manage day-to-day project budgets, control petty cash, process local vendor invoices, and prepare routine cost reports to ensure operations stay on track.

- Monitor and maintain employees attendance records.
- Maintain employee leave records and update them regularly.
- Prepare and process overtime requisitions for approval.
- Prepare monthly payroll & wages for permanent employees and casual labour.
- Update employee records for all new hires, transfers, resignations, and terminations.
- Issue HR-related correspondence approved by management, including employment, confirmation, warning, show cause, termination, and other staff letters.
- Address staff queries and escalate issues to the Project Manager where necessary.
- Manage site petty cash, ensuring all payments are supported by approved vouchers and receipts, and perform regular reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate records of site expenditures and ensure proper filing of all financial documents.
- Conduct periodic stock takes and maintain inventory records.
- Maintain the fixed asset register and monitor the movement of company assets.
- Liaise with statutory bodies and other third parties, including NSSF, SHA, NITA, HELB, and other relevant authorities, to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Support internal audit exercises by providing the required documentation and information.
- Adhere to operator code of practice and present yourself in neat and professional appearance;
- Adhere to all Environmental Health & Safety procedures, policies and instructions;
- Keep accurate financial records
- Perform any other duties assigned by management from time to time.
- Measure local financial accuracy, budget control, operational efficiency, and inventory management.
- Monitoring cash flow, ensuring timely reporting, and keeping road construction, expenses strictly within financial limits; reconciliation turn-around time.
- CPA Part II or equivalent accounting qualification.
- Diploma or Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience in accounting, finance, or site administration.
- Experience in the construction industry will be an added advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and accounting software.
- Good understanding of bookkeeping principles and basic accounting procedures.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
- Good organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced site environment.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle confidential information professionally.
