Job Responsibilities
- Website Auditing and Analysis: Conduct comprehensive technical SEO audits of websites to identify and fix issues related to crawling, indexing, and overall technical performance; Evaluate site architecture, URL structure, and internal linking to optimize for search engine visibility.
- Monitoring and Optimizing Site Performance: Analyze and improve site speed, mobile responsiveness, and core web vitals (e.g., LCP, FID, CLS) to ensure optimal performance for both users and search engines; Use tools like Google Search Console, PageSpeed Insights, and Lighthouse to monitor performance and troubleshoot any technical issues.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues related to crawl errors, duplicate content, broken links, canonical tags, and other SEO-related bugs. Ensure proper implementation and optimization of schema markup and structured data.
- Collaborating with Development Teams: Work closely with developers to ensure that SEO best practices are integrated into the website’s design and development processes. Provide technical guidance for the implementation of SEO improvements, including JavaScript rendering issues, lazy loading, and server-side optimizations (e.g., for HTTPS, redirects).
- Mobile and International SEO: Ensure websites are mobile-friendly, optimizing for mobile-first indexing and AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) when necessary. Optimize websites for international SEO, including hreflang tags and localization strategies, when targeting different countries or regions.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Track and analyze key technical SEO metrics using tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, and Ahrefs.
- Staying Current with SEO Trends: Keep up-to-date with the latest SEO trends, algorithm updates, and emerging technologies to continuously refine technical SEO strategies.
- Working with Cross-functional Teams: Collaborate with content, design, and marketing teams to ensure all site changes align with SEO goals and technical best practices.
- Security and HTTPS: Ensure that websites are secure by enforcing HTTPS protocols, implementing security headers, and safeguarding against common vulnerabilities like malware or hacking.
- Log File Analysis: Analyze server log files to understand how search engines are crawling the site and identify any crawl inefficiencies or issues.
Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Marketing, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a similar discipline is often preferred but not very necessary if one can prove their skills.
- Experience: 1 to 2 years of hands-on experience in technical SEO, including managing and optimizing websites for search engines.
- SEO
Tools Proficiency:
- Proficiency with SEO tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Moz, and other similar platforms.
- Familiarity with technical tools like PageSpeed Insights, Lighthouse, and log file analyzers.
- Technical
Skills:
- Understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as they relate to SEO (e.g., how certain tags, scripts, or structures impact search engine crawling and indexing).
- Familiarity with web development processes, content management systems (CMS), and SEO plugins.
- Basic knowledge of server configurations (e.g., .htaccess, robots.txt, and XML sitemaps) and how they affect search engine crawling.
- Experience with optimizing site speed, mobile responsiveness, and Core Web Vitals.
- Soft
Skills:
- Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, content creators, and marketing personnel.
- Attention to detail and a passion for optimizing websites from a technical perspective.
- Certifications
(Optional but Preferred):
- Certifications in SEO, Google Analytics, or other digital marketing platforms are often seen as a plus. Popular certifications include:
