JOB SUMMARY
This role is responsible for leading and coordinating the organisation’s budgeting and financial management processes, including the preparation, review, consolidation, and monitoring of budgets to guide effective decision-making. It ensures compliance with financial regulations, prudent expenditure management, and maintenance of robust internal controls. As a senior position, it requires extensive experience in financial planning, reporting, and oversight to uphold accountability and support sound organisational performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties and Responsibilities1.Coordinating the preparation of budget and revised budgets.2.Reviewing and submitting for approval the departmental work plans and budget.3. Consolidating annual and revised budgets for presentation to the Board.4. Monitoring budget implementation for management decision.5. Reviewing monthly, quarterly and annual expenditure variance reports.6. Reviewing and reporting on the status of budget implementation and absorption levels.7. Ensuring expenditures are within the voted provision.8. Ensuring implementation of financial accounting standards and regulations to ensure integrity of the statutory reports.9. Ensuring maintenance of internal control and effective accounting system and policies for accurate management offinancial transactions.Qualifications1.At least eight (8) years, relevant work experience, three (3) of which must be in supervisory role; 2. Bachelors Degree in any of the following disciplines: Finance, Accounts Commerce (Finance Option), Business Administration, Business Management, Economics or its equivalent from arecognized institution; 3. Master’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Finance, Accounts Commerce (Finance Option), Business Administration, Business Management, 4. Economics or its equivalent from a recognized institution 5. Certified Public Accountant III (CPA-K); 6. Member of relevant professional(ICPAK, ACCA), body in good standing;7. Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;8. Proficiency in Computer applications skills; 9. Demonstrated results in work performance; and10. Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
