JOB PURPOSE
Leads engineering, maintenance and technical services for the hotel, ensuring reliable building systems, guest-room functionality, safety, preventive maintenance and cost-effective operation of hotel assets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Lead all hotel engineering and maintenance activities covering guest rooms, public areas, kitchens, laundry, conference facilities and back-of-house areas.
· Develop and implement preventive-maintenance schedules for electrical, plumbing, HVAC, generators, pumps, lifts and other building systems.
· Supervise Maintenance Technicians and coordinate the Pool Technician and external specialist contractors where required.
· Maintain rapid response and closure standards for guest-room and operational maintenance defects.
· Monitor utility consumption including electricity and water and implement cost-saving and efficiency initiatives.
· Prepare the engineering budget, maintenance plans, spare-parts requirements and capital-replacement recommendations.
· Maintain statutory inspection, safety, fire, equipment and technical compliance records.
· Coordinate planned shutdowns, emergency repairs and contractor work with hotel operations to minimise guest disruption.
· Maintain engineering stores, tools, spare parts and equipment-control procedures.
· Support renovations, refurbishments, installations and capital projects, including contractor supervision and quality checks.
· Ensure safe work practices, permits, PPE and technical risk controls are followed.
· Provide technical input to the General Manager on asset condition, lifecycle planning and major repair priorities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
· Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Building Services, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
· 5–8 years of relevant facilities/engineering experience, preferably in a hotel or comparable commercial property.
· Demonstrated supervisory experience and practical knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC and building systems.
· Strong preventive-maintenance planning, troubleshooting, contractor-management and safety skills.
· Ability to manage budgets, utilities, spares and technical documentation.
· Relevant professional/technical licences or certifications are an advantage.
