ABOUT THE COMPANY

On a significant note, the vision for an Open University in Kenya came to fruition on August 3, 2023, when the institution was awarded a Charter by the Honorable President of Kenya, Dr. William Samoei Ruto. The charter ceremony took place at Konza Metropolis, located in Machakos County. This event marked a crucial milestone in the educational landscape of Kenya and affirmed the commitment of the government to expand higher education opportunities beyond the conventional brick- and-mortar universities.
The Open University of Kenya aims to address the pressing issue of limited capacity in traditional universities by employing innovative teaching and learning methodologies, including online and distance education. By leveraging technology and flexible learning modes, the university seeks to accommodate a larger number of qualified students, enabling them to pursue higher education without the constraints of physical presence and limited campus capacities.

JOB SUMMARY

For appointment to this grade, one MUST have: Served in the grade of Assistant Reception Officer grade 5 for a minimum period of three (3) years;ORDiploma in any of the following fields: Customer Service, Public Relations, Hospitality Management, International Relations and Diplomacy, Communication Management, Event Management, Front Office or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;Certificate in computer application skills; andShown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manning the customer care desk; Distributing presidential speeches; Receiving and ushering VIPs/guests during state functions and national days’ celebrations and commemorations; Distributing presidential speeches; Maintaining daily record of visitors’ details; Profiling visitors; maintaining good ambience in the reception area; Responding to visitors’ queries and telephone inquiries; Recording and confirming visitors’ appointments; receiving, guiding and directing visitors to designated offices and areas; Issuing visitors passes; implementing the seating plan; and Tagging VIP seats during official and state functions.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

Diploma, Associate's degree
