Job summary
Manage and oversee all activities in the Network Operations Centre (NOC) and Service Management Centre (SMC). To monitor the operations of the telecommunications networks and alert the relevant maintenance departments of network outages and the potential causes of such outages. To coordinate and schedule changes to the network and ensure minimal disruption of services

- Manage the allocated budget to ensure effective spending.
- Procure vendors cost effectively in collaboration with procurement department
- Contribute to the timely maintenance of the network to ensure availability of network to the customers
- Provide high quality service based on the SLA agreements and performance standards
- Communicate network disruptions that cause a loss of coverage to allow for the determination of potential causes of network outages and make the necessary repairs
- Ensure that network surveillance system alarms are tended to and provide first level troubleshooting in the event of system outages.
- Ensure that all network outages are escalated timeously to the correct function for repair and ensure that the necessary ‘trouble tickets’ are issued.
- Prepare monthly reports regarding network faults, outages and remedial actions taken.
- Monitor performance of the company’s telecommunications network through the company’s NOC to identify network outages and to take immediate remedial action.
- Manage the NOC inventory to ensure company property is accurately recorded
- Act as the custodian of access to the company data centres.
- Ensure that technology team members, vendors and collocation partners are granted access to data centres when required.
- Coordinate all change requests to the telecommunications networks
- Collaborate in the scheduling of all changes to the telecommunications network
- Communicate scheduled network changes to departments that may be impacted by it.
- Provide leadership to the NOC and SMC teams, conducting training, monitoring performance and mentoring for growth.
- BSC Degree in, Information Technologies, Telecommunications or a related technical field.
- Certification in CISCO/CCNA
- 5-8 years’ experience in telecommunications engineering of which at least 5 years in management.
- Extensive experience in operating telecommunications network monitoring equipment
- Knowledge of GSM/3G,4G architecture, core circuit and packet architecture, VAS architecture LAN, WAN, TCPIP
- MS Office proficiency
- Good knowledge of the O&M processes
- Good understanding of a telecom operators business, operational processes, information systems used.
- An ability to process large quantities of data fast and efficiently.
