Our client, a leading provider of Utilities Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Services, is seeking to recruit a competent, proactive and technically skilled Technical Operator.
The organization specializes in the safe, reliable and efficient operation and maintenance of industrial utility systems, supporting clients’ business objectives through optimized utilities delivery, equipment reliability, cost effectiveness and continuous improvement.

JOB PURPOSE
The Technical Operator will be responsible for the safe, efficient operation, monitoring and first-line maintenance of utility plant and equipment, including pumps, compressors, boilers, water and steam systems, valves and associated distribution networks. The role will ensure reliable service delivery, achievement of operational targets, equipment availability and continuous improvement. 
Certification in Boiler Operations/Maintenance and/or Equipment Calibration will be an added advantage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate, monitor and maintain utility plant and equipment to achieve safe, reliable and efficient operations.
  • Record and analyze plant operating parameters, hourly readings, short-interval controls and equipment performance data.
  • Monitor boiler operations, including steam generation, distribution networks, condensate recovery and identification of system losses.
  • Conduct routine and weekly inspections of boilers, pumps, compressors, valves, oil interceptors, storage vessels, condensate systems and utility distribution networks.
  • Perform first-line preventive and corrective maintenance and ensure maintenance activities are appropriately risk assessed and executed.
  • Monitor water, gas, oil, heavy fuel and other fluid levels and ensure timely escalation of abnormalities.
  • Conduct burner inspections and maintenance and monitor boiler safety controls and associated protection systems.
  • Identify steam leaks, energy losses, waste and equipment performance gaps and initiate corrective actions and work orders.
  • Maintain accurate equipment failure, recovery and operational records and recommend both immediate recovery measures and long-term solutions.
  • Support equipment reliability, availability, performance improvement and maintenance cost optimization initiatives.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities relating to energy efficiency, waste elimination and utilities performance.
  • Process work orders and support parts inventory monitoring and replenishment.
  • Strictly comply with and promote EHS, OSHA, HACCP, GMP and client safety requirements, supporting a zero-harm culture.
  • Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, inspections and other operational improvement initiatives.
  • Provide timely escalation of abnormal plant conditions, operational risks and safety concerns.
Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent relevant technical qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in plant operations and maintenance, preferably within an FMCG, manufacturing or industrial utilities environment.
  • Certification in Boiler Operations/Maintenance and/or Equipment Calibration will be an added advantage.
  • Practical experience in the operation and maintenance of boilers, pumps, compressors, steam, water, fuel and related utility systems is highly desirable.

KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
  • Strong mechanical, analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Good understanding of industrial utility systems, mechanical tools, equipment, materials and maintenance practices.
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply equipment manuals, technical drawings and operating procedures.
  • Strong commitment to occupational health, safety and environmental standards.
  • Proactive, disciplined and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and execute tasks within required timelines.
  • Good planning, organization and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and basic operational data analysis.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and respond appropriately to operational emergencies.
  • Willingness to work shifts, overtime, weekends and public holidays when required.
