Engagement: Initial One-Month Consultancy
Application Deadline: 20 October 2026
Edpack Limited is a growing flexible packaging manufacturing company seeking a capable, hands-on and results-driven Human Resources professional to undertake an initial one-month HR consultancy assignment.
We are looking for a practical HR person who understands people, production environments, workplace discipline, performance, systems and controls and can help us strengthen our HR function as the business grows.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR CAPABILITY — NOT SIMPLY TITLES
We recognise that some of the strongest HR practitioners may currently hold positions such as HR Officer, HR Executive, HR Generalist, HR & Administration Officer, HR Business Partner or similar roles, while already carrying substantial responsibility within their organisations.
We therefore encourage applications from experienced HR practitioners who can demonstrate that they have successfully handled significant employee populations, production environments, operational businesses or complex HR responsibilities, regardless of their current job title.
THE ASSIGNMENT
The successful candidate will work directly with the Director and management team to:
- Review Edpack's existing HR structure, practices, documentation and controls.
- Review employee contracts and personnel records.
- Establish strong and organised employee-record systems.
- Review manpower requirements, staffing structures and reporting relationships.
- Develop and/or strengthen job descriptions and responsibilities.
- Strengthen recruitment, interviewing, selection and onboarding.
- Establish effective attendance, leave, lateness, absenteeism and overtime controls.
- Develop practical HR policies and procedures.
- Strengthen employee performance management and accountability.
- Develop measurable KPIs for key positions.
- Strengthen probation and employee appraisal processes.
- Establish effective disciplinary and grievance procedures.
- Guide management on employee-relations matters.
- Review manpower utilisation and labour productivity.
- Support management in controlling unnecessary overtime and labour costs.
- Establish useful HR data and management reporting.
- Support recruitment of key operational and management personnel.
- Help develop supervisors and managers into stronger people managers.
- Identify and train an internal HR resource capable of subsequently handling day-to-day HR operations.
- Transfer HR systems, tools and knowledge to the internal team.
FIRST 30 DAYS — WE EXPECT IMPACT
This is an initial one-month consultancy assignment.
Within the first month, we expect measurable progress including:
✓ HR and employee-record review completed
✓ Key HR and employment risks identified
✓ Employee documentation strengthened
✓ Attendance, leave and overtime controls reviewed
✓ Organisational and manpower structure assessed
✓ Priority job descriptions reviewed/established
✓ Priority HR policies and procedures addressed
✓ Recruitment systems strengthened
✓ Performance-management framework established
✓ HR management dashboard established
✓ Internal HR capability development commenced
✓ Clear recommendations and implementation priorities presented to management
At the end of the initial one-month assignment, performance and progress will be reviewed.
Strong performance may lead to a further consultancy engagement to continue implementation, training and handover.
There is also potential for continued as-needed HR consultancy support thereafter.
The initial one-month engagement does not automatically guarantee an extension.
WHO SHOULD APPLY?
We welcome applications from candidates holding either a:
Diploma OR Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Management or another relevant discipline.
Appropriate HR professional qualifications/membership will be an added advantage.
More importantly, we want evidence of what you have actually done.
Candidates should ideally demonstrate practical experience in areas such as:
- Managing HR responsibilities for a sizeable workforce.
- Manufacturing, production, processing, packaging, plastics, printing, FMCG, construction, projects or other operational environments.
- Recruitment and onboarding.
- Attendance and workforce management.
- Performance management and KPIs.
- Employee discipline and grievance management.
- Employment documentation and HR records.
- Payroll inputs and labour-cost controls.
- Kenyan employment and labour requirements.
- HR reporting and workforce data.

YOUR CURRENT TITLE WILL NOT DEFINE YOUR APPLICATION
If you are currently an HR Officer or similar, but you have substantial practical experience managing a large workforce and believe you have the capability to take on this assignment, we encourage you to apply.
We are interested in your experience, capability, judgement and results — not simply the seniority of your current title.
