Quantity Surveyor / Construction Cost Estimator

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Review architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and Bills of Quantities.
• Calculate labour and material requirements for each construction stage.

• Break down project costs into materials and labour

  Prepare tender documents, quotations and cost proposals.

• Monitor actual site expenditure against the approved budget.
• Maintain updated construction rates and cost databases.
• Work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, suppliers and project managers.
• Conduct site visits to verify measurements and construction progress.

• Prepare clear weekly and monthly project cost reports.

  
  

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum Diploma in Quantity Surveying.

• At least one year of relevant working experience.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural and services drawings.
• Practical knowledge of construction materials, labour requirements and building processes.
• Strong understanding of Kenyan construction rates and procurement practices.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

  Experience preparing Bills of Quantities, valuations and cost reports.

• Membership or registration with a relevant professional body will be an added advantage.
