This is a full-time operational position for an individual with prior microfinance collections experience who wants to further develop their skills in loan recovery and portfolio management.Job Purpose
The Recovery Officer Intern will be responsible for recovering long-outstanding and defaulted accounts through structured customer follow-up, field visits, negotiations, and appropriate escalation of recovery cases in line with Company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and follow up assigned long-outstanding and defaulted loan accounts.
- Contact customers through calls, messages, and field visits to secure repayment.
- Develop and implement appropriate recovery strategies based on each customer's circumstances and repayment capacity.
- Negotiate realistic repayment commitments and monitor Promises to Pay (PTPs) until fulfilled.
- Conduct field visits to customers and relevant contacts where necessary to support recovery.
- Identify cases requiring recovery and action promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of recovery activities, customer commitments, payments, and visit outcomes.
- Work closely with Collections Officers and other relevant teams to support effective account recovery.
- Achieve assigned recovery targets and provide regular updates on the assigned recovery portfolio.
Minimum Requirements
- KCSE Certificate.
- Diploma or Degree in any relevant field.
- Computer competency.
- At least 6 months' experience as a Collection Officer in a microfinance institution.
- Strong understanding of loan collections and customer repayment management.
- Applicants should be 35 years of age or below.
