Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive post-qualification experience, preferably in high-value building or infrastructure projects.
- Thorough understanding of LV and HV electrical distribution systems, including switchgear, transformers, and cabling.
- Expertise in electrical design and simulation software such as AutoCAD, ETAP, Revit, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of international electrical codes and standards, including IEC, BS, and applicable Kenyan standards.
- Proven experience managing complete electrical project lifecycles, including design, installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on system reliability and safety.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- High degree of professional ethics and technical responsibility.
- Knowledge of energy efficiency and renewable energy integration is an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical design, calculations, drawings, and technical documentation for projects.
- Coordinate electrical works with structural, architectural, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines.
- Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
- Conduct feasibility studies and prepare electrical cost estimates.
- Monitor electrical project budgets, schedules, and cost controls.
- Advise on procurement of electrical components and materials.
- Support procurement negotiations and vendor performance management.
- Ensure electrical installations comply with approved designs and technical standards.
- Ensure all electrical works comply with HSE requirements and applicable Kenyan regulations.
- Maintain electrical safety certifications and project documentation.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with project stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
