Electrical Engineer

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive post-qualification experience, preferably in high-value building or infrastructure projects.
• Thorough understanding of LV and HV electrical distribution systems, including switchgear, transformers, and cabling.
• Expertise in electrical design and simulation software such as AutoCAD, ETAP, Revit, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of international electrical codes and standards, including IEC, BS, and applicable Kenyan standards.
• Proven experience managing complete electrical project lifecycles, including design, installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on system reliability and safety.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• High degree of professional ethics and technical responsibility.
• Knowledge of energy efficiency and renewable energy integration is an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design, calculations, drawings, and technical documentation for projects.
• Coordinate electrical works with structural, architectural, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines.
• Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
• Conduct feasibility studies and prepare electrical cost estimates.
• Monitor electrical project budgets, schedules, and cost controls.
• Advise on procurement of electrical components and materials.
• Support procurement negotiations and vendor performance management.
• Ensure electrical installations comply with approved designs and technical standards.
• Ensure all electrical works comply with HSE requirements and applicable Kenyan regulations.
• Maintain electrical safety certifications and project documentation.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with project stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
