Job summary
The Systems & Infrastructure Officer is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's IT hardware, software, local area networks (LAN), and wide area networks (WAN) in a manufacturing environment. This role ensures reliable IT infrastructure to support production processes, minimize downtime, and enhance operational efficiency in a fast-paced manufacturing setup.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
IT Infrastructure Management
· Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot servers, workstations, printers, and other IT hardware.
· Monitor infrastructure performance and conduct preventive maintenance, upgrades, and capacity planning.
· Maintain accurate IT asset registers, infrastructure documentation, and system configurations.
Network Administration
· Configure and manage LAN/WAN infrastructure, including routers, switches, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless networks.
· Monitor network performance, availability, security, and bandwidth utilization.
· Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and ensure reliable communication across production and business locations.
Systems & Software Administration
· Install, configure, patch, and maintain operating systems, business applications, and server software.
· Manage user accounts, access rights, system permissions, and related IT services.
· Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating-system, and application-related incidents.
Manufacturing Systems & OT Support
· Support ERP, SCADA, IoT, automation, and other technology systems used in manufacturing operations.
· Collaborate with production and engineering teams to integrate IT infrastructure with manufacturing equipment and systems.
· Troubleshoot infrastructure issues affecting production and implement solutions that minimize operational downtime.
IT Security
· Implement and maintain security controls for servers, networks, endpoints, user accounts, and other IT assets.
· Apply security patches, firmware updates, access controls, and system-hardening measures.
· Monitor for security threats and support the investigation and resolution of security incidents.
Backup & Disaster Recovery
· Implement, monitor, and maintain reliable backup solutions for critical systems and business data.
· Conduct regular backup verification and restoration tests to ensure data recoverability.
· Maintain and periodically test disaster recovery and business continuity procedures.
Technical Support
· Provide first- and second-level technical support to users for hardware, software, network, and system issues.
· Prioritize and resolve incidents based on business and production impact.
· Document incidents, resolutions, recurring problems, and escalation activities.
Infrastructure Monitoring & Maintenance
· Monitor servers, networks, storage, internet connectivity, and other critical infrastructure.
· Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance and identify potential infrastructure failures before they affect operations.
· Prepare infrastructure performance, availability, capacity, and incident reports.
Vendor & Technology Management
· Coordinate with IT vendors, internet service providers, hardware suppliers, and software providers.
· Evaluate and recommend technologies that improve infrastructure reliability, security, and operational efficiency.
· Support procurement, warranty claims, maintenance contracts, and vendor service-level management.
Policies & Documentation
· Develop, implement, and maintain IT infrastructure policies, procedures, standards, and technical documentation.
· Maintain network diagrams, asset registers, system configurations, backup procedures, and disaster recovery documentation.
· Ensure infrastructure activities comply with organizational IT, security, and change-management requirements.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
· Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field
· 3–5 years of hands-on experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, or network administration
· Experience working in a medium-to-large organization with multiple users, systems, and network infrastructure.
· Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, engineering, logistics, or similarly operational environment will be an added advantage.
