We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Pastry Intern to join our dynamic kitchen team.
Job Summary We are seeking motivated pastry chefs who are eager to learn on the job and grow their culinary skillset. While this is a learning-focused role, candidates must already possess a foundation in the basics of pastry production. You will work alongside our senior culinary team to assist in creating high-end tarts, cakes, entremets, mousses, and laminated doughs
Key Responsibilities
Kitchen & Operations Management
● Daily Production: Preparation, baking, and decoration of all pies, viennoiserie, entremets, cakes, tarts and desserts.
● Lamination Practice : Assist with viennoiserie production, including traditional croissants, danishes, and puff pastries
● On-the-Job Learning : Actively absorb feedback, master new technical skills, and apply learned techniques to daily tasks.
● Collaboration : Work closely with chefs and kitchen assistants to ensure smooth daily kitchen operations.
● Inventory Control: Monitor ingredient stock levels, place orders with suppliers, and manage the kitchen budget to meet food cost targets.
● Waste Reduction: Implement efficient production planning to minimize daily food waste while ensuring product availability. Quality & Menu Innovation
● Quality Control: Enforce strict standards for taste, texture, and visual presentation across all baked goods.
● Menu Development: Collaborate on creating seasonal menus, holiday specials, and signature items that align with the Divine Cravings brand.
● Custom Orders: Manage the design and execution of custom orders, including celebration cakes and catering requests. Safety & Compliance
● Sanitation Standards: Ensure the entire kitchen complies with local health codes, food safety regulations, and cleanliness standards.
● Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the proper use, cleaning, and routine maintenance of commercial baking equipment.
Requirements & Qualifications
● Experience: 2 to 5 years of professional pastry experience.
Added advantage: with at least 1 year in a supervisory or shift-lead role.
● Education: Degree or diploma in Baking & Pastry Arts, Culinary Arts, or equivalent practical experience.
● Technical Skills: Fundamental understanding of pastry components including ganaches, mousses, and cremeux formulations; expert knowledge of laminated doughs, sponge cakes, fillings, glazes, and advanced piping/decorating techniques.
● Business Acumen: Basic understanding of inventory management software, food costing, and kitchen math for scaling recipes.
● Mindset : Highly eager to learn, receptive to constructive feedback, and passionate about pastry arts.
● Teamwork : Exceptional team player with a positive attitude and strong
● communication skills.
● Efficiency : Ability to keep up with a fast-paced kitchen environment and follow exact recipes.
