JOB SUMMARY
Browns Plantations Kenya Limited is based in Kericho and Bomet counties. It has over 5000 Hectares of Tea and over 2000 Hectares of forestry. There are four tea factories, nine tea estates, a sawmill, and forestry operation. We invite applications for a Lathe Machine Operator position at the Engineering Department, Brown Plantations Kenya Limited (formerly James Finlay Kenya Limited). This is a Grade 3 Position. THE JOB Reporting to the Workshop Foreman, the person is responsible for operating workshop machinery and related equipment to perform the assigned metal works to the desired quality, designs, and customer specifications in a safe and professional standard.REQUIREMENTS Diploma/ Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, production, plant, or a relevant engineering discipline.Minimum 3 years practical experience in workshop operations, mechanical Installations, and maintenance.Good skills in the operations of workshop machinery/ equipment, specifically the lathe machine.Proven track record of performance in similar roles.Proficiency in manual and/or CTC lathe operation.Strong understanding of machining principles and metalworking.Ability to read technical drawings and use precision measuring tools.Knowledge of speeds, feeds, cutting tools, and materials.Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate workshop machinery and equipment such as lathe work, milling, slotting, etc., effectively and efficiently within the set workshop engineering procedures and policies.Perform assigned tasks in a safe manner, adhering to safety regulations and engineering policies.Carry out assigned jobs in a timely manner in conjunction with colleagues and Perform other mechanical workshop duties as assigned by management.Work in conjunction with other engineering team members to fulfil customer requirements.Handle workshop machinery, tools, and related resources in a professional manner to avoid waste, damage, and unwarranted downtime.Provide expertise advise to the team regarding the machinery assigned for your use.APPLICATION PROCEDUREIf you meet the requirements of this position, please submit an application, including a detailed CV, your postal, e-mail and telephone contacts and the names and addresses of three referees, one of whom must be your current supervisor, not later than 31 December 2025.
