JOB SUMMARY

Browns Plantations Kenya Limited has a proud heritage in operating plantation businesses in Sri Lanka, Sierra Leone, and Kenya. The tea estates and factories are based in Kericho and Bomet counties, with over 5000 Hectares of Tea and over 2000 Hectares of forestry.  We invite applications for a draughtsman position at the Engineering Department at the Junior Management level. THE ROLE In liaison with the Civil works Manager, plan, design, draw and estimate construction works for the organisation and supervise work done to ensure details of drawings, scope, specifications and timelines are adhered to.  Minimum RequirementsDiploma in Civil/ Building engineeringAt least two years of experience in the use of Computer Aided Design software (AutoCAD, BricsCAD) and other engineering design software.Two-year experience in a similar role, carrying out costing, preparation of bill of quantities and estimates, survey and civil works such as construction of bridges, dams, roads, etc.Experience in carrying out Engineering Survey work.Good understanding of Civil operations, Engineering standards, Company policies, Human rights and environmental requirements. Must be computer proficient, with experience in the use of ERP and an added advantageProven track record of performance in similar roles held  

RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan, design, and make detailed engineering drawings for Civil Engineering and other Engineering disciplines as shall be directed. Design and draw to standard any modification/ extension of buildings, e.g, factories, housesPrepare cost estimates and/or Bills of Quantities for Civil Engineering and other Engineering disciplines as shall be directed. Take off measurements of built structures and convert to working drawings where modification is required.Supervise Civil Engineering construction works and ensure that specifications and working drawings details are strictly followed during construction.Evaluate the quality of materials to be used, maximize output, and minimize wastage.  Manage the staff assigned to ensure efficient productivity, best quality products, and improve their skills. In charge of the drawing office, keep all drawing documents.In liaison with the Civil manager, design standards for the buildings within the company.Manage contactors and project supervision as shall be assigned.Provide on-the-job training for staff members reporting to this position or other teams as shall be instructed. Your application should reach us not later than 16th December 2025.
