JOB SUMMARY

Browns Plantations Kenya Limited is based in Kericho and Bomet counties. It has over 5000 Hectares of Tea and over 2000 Hectares of forestry. There are four tea factories, nine tea estates, a sawmill, and forestry operation.  We invite applications for a Factory Supervisor within the Tea Estates Division, Brown Plantations Kenya Limited (formerly James Finlay Kenya Limited).  This is a Grade 3 Position. THE JOB Reporting to the Factory Assistant, the job holder will be responsible for planning production and supervising labour in the assigned section of the process network to achieve the set target. RequirementsKCSE Certificate; Certificate/Diploma in Food Science or Diploma in Industrial Chemistry/ Analytical Chemistry/ Biochemistry At least 3 years’ experience in a relevant factory environment.Computer Literate.Excellent communication skills.Good organising and planning skills.Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee the processing parameters in any of the assigned sections, such as withering, Oxidation, Sorting and Packing and ensure that the parameters are within the requirements of factory standard operating procedures (SOPs).Ensure stenciling and seal masking are well done and visible.Ensure paper sacks are well palletized.Ensure invoice samples match packed teas.Eliminate/reduce paper sack damage to zeroEnsure all daily binned teas are packed and stocks taken at least weeklyEnsure consistent and high-quality teas by monitoring on an hourly basis the quality performance of tea under processing and report promptly to the relevant machine operator any deviations from the standard, for corrective action to be taken.Ensure compliance with accreditation systems, e.g, FSSC 22000 food safety, environment Health & Safety (EHS), Rain Forest Alliance (RA), Fairtrade (FT), and Organic Soil Association (SA), and to drive total compliance with their requirements and keep their respective records.Be conversant with Continuous Improvement programs and implement all the principles therein.Ensure that production data is up to date.Ensure optimum use of available resources through proper allocation of labour.Ensure food safety is always achieved through good manufacturing practices.
